Bright and cheery day today, Sunday 2nd May 2010. Good news about my ballroom dance teacher, Patricia Stinton, who is back in her own home today. The doctors at Mayday hospital said she could go home yesterday but will need outside help for the next few weeks whilst she recovers fully from her recent injury. I still worry about her though.
She is such an independent-minded lady and insists she will be perfectly OK on her own ... but at nigh on eighty? With a hip still on the mend from a fracture? Hmm ... Still, I shall be keeping in touch daily via the telephone. She also has one of the necklace alarm gadgets which will alert somebody locally should she have another fall.
Sunny and cheerful weather today. Really makes one a lot happier. Hope you are all doing well.

MM - Thanks, I'm pretty sure she will be at least teaching again, it has been, and still is, her life.
Pearl - She's absolutely wonderful in so many ways and very determined to overcome this setback.
Philip my granny broker her hip at 92 years of age. After a sort recovery she went on to full mobility for the next 13 years before she passed. I am sure your friend will have equal success being on the mend.
That's a great comment Mark. Your late Grandma was certainly someone to be utterly proud of. I'll mention this to Patricia when I next phone her. Thanks for that personal story Mark.
That's good news about her going home - I know she'd MUCH rather finish recuperating there. I hope the hospital forwards my card!

Patricia sounds like a lady with a good streak of determination within, and that will certainly aid her recovery, Philip. Perhaps she's reading all the books in her "to be read" stack in this downtime. When up and about again will be filled with new images.
I know people make fun of those little call buttons (they had some unfortunate commercials) but they really are wonderful things. They allow people who might not be able to otherwise be on their own, retain a sense of independence.
I hope your friend heals well and swiftly.
And Phillip? That's a bull!!! Good gracious, that gave me a turn because unless my eyes deceive me, when the appropriately named Blackie turned away, he seemed to be in possession of all his original bits and parts.
I'll just be over here, monitoring my heart rate for a bit ;-) It's not that I grew up on a farm, as I didn't, but have spent a reasonable amount of time around horses, in particular, and cows.
So here I was thinking, "Aw, what a great big, furry head he has. He looks a bit like an enormous Scottie ...and OH MY GOODNESS, BACK AWAY!"

Yes, I'll certainly pass on your good wishes to Pat Stinton. I spoke with her this afternoon and she is doing fairly nicely but is anxious to have her Lassie type dog back with her asap. She is also having a stair-lift installed on Thursday so that she can get up to her own bedroom again; obviously stairs are a no-no pro tem.
I think the longhorns are fairly friendly but I would not want to go into the paddock whilst there is a young calf there! Mummy Longhorns would not take too kindly to a Sassenach such as I barging into their space.
I liked your video very much Philip, especially the long horned cattle. Always fascinating to me, watching animals going about their daily lives.

Oh, what a delightful video-clip of a lovely spring afternoon, so nice to see where you are, and to hear your voice! The size of that long-horn's head in relation to his body is immense, isn't it? Such a relaxed, familiar banter between you and your tractor friend, I couldn't help but smile, hearing it.
Good to know your dear friend is on the mend, she sounds a resiliant character, lets hope she soon makes a full recovery.
