Lushly beautiful images in your video. Here in Toronto we are finally getting a trace of snow today, but accompanied by high winds and very cloudy skies.

Nothing like the beauty you are experiencing.

January 3rd Weather Report from the Midwest, USA: SNOW. *sigh* Makes us appreciate summer more, doesn't it.
I LOVE the Ash tree out front, it's gorgeous.
Thanks for a peek into your world.

Isn't it marvelous how well known objects are changed in the snow? The bird bath getting a frigid makeover. In our backyard we have a thing called a Chimenaya -- essentially a free stranding, movable fireplace, perfect for people like my husband who adore building fires -- and every time it snows, I need only look at the Chim to a) gauge the depth b) be left with the impression that we have a small, cast iron sentinel standing guard over the back, because the snow piles atop his lid and gives him a top not unlike a Buckingham Palace guard.

By the way, I like your version of a weather report. "Snow." "Bring a coat." "Carry an umbrella" -- very expedient. None of this, "A cold front bringing pressure in from the north will..."

Please be careful with that snow shoveling, Philip. It's quite hard work.

Also, a peanut bowl? What an interesting thing to stick outside ones door. Here you'd do that if you were trying to attract bar patrons :-)

Brrr! We keep getting flurries, but nothing much stays put. This is good for my morning commute!

Oh, goodness, that is so beautiful. I must admit I have missed the snow this year, so I love strolling through your countryside.

Here in Vancouver we still have some flowers blooming, believe it or not. I saw a shrub yesterday with beautiful pink flowers on it, and today I'm going to take a picture. It's crazy!

Happy New Year!

Sparkly frost is all we're getting here at the moment in the Midlands. Your views are breathtaking but I sympathise with the inconvenience.

I loved your post. And you used that 4 letter word too - SNOW.

I loved that you were playing Satie in the background, I think his music is a lot like snow..quiet and contemplative. And I liked what you said about something looking like the bottom of a wedding cake.

The Gymnopedie in the background is just lovely, Philip. Two of my favorite things, snow and Satie. Thank you. xx

By the way, I forgot to add this in my reply to you, but I completely agree with you on the singer from The Sons of Maxwell, he's got a truly remarkable voice. He reminds me of several of the old greats.

Looks like you really got some accumulation. We have just had flurries and very small amounts that don't last long. Your video is so peaceful set to music. You have a very soothing and peacful voice. Take care and be careful!

Sw France report: Freezing fog at the moment, buckets of rain been falling, and oh so where has the sun gone!
At least the snow looks pretty. We have mud, mud and more mud to look at!

Thank you all for your comforting comments. Looks as though the rest of the UK is in this icy grip, with snow about to descend upon old London Town!

Now THAT will be something for them to put in their diaries and blogs! Snow in London. My oh my, can things get any worse? Yes; share prices will freeze, or fall.

At least, in 2010, we still have the benefit of power supplies. Back in the 'good old, bad old' days of 1947 we lost virtually ALL forms of power. Coal was scarce and on ration (along with most other things) and the cold spell lasted for around 7 weeks or so.

Not as bad as then, so all is not doom and gloom.
