Art Exhibition Mellerstain July 10th 2010

This morning my wife, Pat, and I were invited to the annual art exhibition in the basement corridors of Mellerstain House. Quite a decent crowd accepted the invitation and, as usual, it was an enjoyable hour or so. Glass of vino, nibbles and so forth, and meeting up with some faces we've not seen for a year or more!

I took a few sneaky video shots and in the first few seconds, if you're quick, you will see me, in the large hall mirror, surreptiously videoing! Pat can also be seen pointing to one of the artworks and, a few seconds later, you can spot her looking at a painting on the left wall. And finally, in the last few seconds, you'll see a shot of the old Adam bathroom. Water for this 'facility' came from a spring under the front steps to the house.

Pat has to go to Borders General Hospital this Monday for pre-admission checks prior to her admission on 26th July for a new right hip! The operation, more than four hours duration, due to be performed on 27th July. So, a bit of a scary time ahead but hopefully it will make life a good deal easier for Pat once it's all over and done with.

Oh I'm GLAD Pat's getting a new right hip! I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a new left one at some point in my life. I'll bet it will help her tremendously!

Thanks for the video - it was nice seeing you guys have some fun!

Thanks Dana. I hope you're not having a lot of pain and/or difficulty in that area. This is all down to wear and tear in life I guess. Best wishes, Phil.

So nice to see you! I'll be thinking of Pat and I am sure all will go well and she will able to join you on your strolls through the woods soon.

Philip! You have returned from the real world, back to the ether of the internet and with video, too. Hurray :-)

I hope all goes well with Pat's surgery. Isn't it amazing what can be done these days to address joint problems? After she's all healed up, she'll feel like a new person. I know a woman who had all her knuckles replaced, due to terrible arthritis. Sounds daunting but now that she's all healed, she said it's like having her twenty-year-old hands back.

May Pat have the hip of her spry young self again :-)

Also, in a complete aside, one thing I learned back in college, while doing crowd scenes on stage is that if you can get a bunch of people to say, "Rhubarb." over and over to each other in the background, it will sound just like the buzz of conversation.

Stupid things you didn't need to know, brought to you by me, as per usual :-) Glad to see you, sir.

It is amazing how hip surgery has progressed.
My 85-year-old neighbour had one side done, then the other. She is walking around!
