Brief Encounter

My apologies for lack of postings and for not visiting my favourite bloggers.

Health problems in the Croydon Boy cottage have been the cause. My wife and I have both had some time in hospital. Pat was in Edinburgh Royal and I was in Borders General. My problem was heart damage of a few years ago which gave me some reminders recently! Pat has a vascular problem and this is worrying but is being treated well enough.

I don't want to dwell on the health side of things as life's too short for all that. We shall be more concerned with the weather at present. Plenty of snow and a radio warning today said that Lothian and Borders (my area of course) can expect heavy and prolonged snow - lasting until after Christmas Day.

So, a white Christmas this year. Lovely for the youngsters; not too sure about those in isolated areas who are easily cut off in snow storms. This happened to us about five or six years ago when we lost power for five days and all roads were totally impassable for three days. Memories of cooking eggs and bacon on a fry pan over the coal fire. Slowly boiling water for coffee and tea on a gaz camping stove. Romantic? Not very. ;-}

We wish everybody a very Merry Xmas and a Happier and Healthier New Year. If winter comes can Spring be far away...

Merry Christmas Philip. I hope the snow won't cause any problems for you. We are experiencing just rain so far, but snow maybe the next 2 days. Nothing like the other parts of my country, who have had up to 30 inches of the white stuff.
Take care and I hope you are feeling much better soon!

Merry Christmas! It was good to see your comment on my blog - I've missed you!

We lost power from an ice storm last year - we fixed our meals on a camp stove for about two days. No, not terribly romantic!

Philip!! I'm so sorry that you and your wife battled health problems, and hopefully you'll soon both be fully recovered.

Thank you for checking in, it's so appreciated. I thought of you on December 23rd, sir, I truly did. I was coming out of the grocery store and there was a Salvation Army collector at the door, with a pot, and a bell. I saw her on the way in, and remembered your story. On the way out, I stuffed money in the cauldron, and sent a thought winging your way, hoping all was well.

So if you heard any bells ring on the 23rd, perhaps it was a traveling thought, come to visit.

Or it might have just been the phone.

Be well, Philip, to both you and your wife.

It's great to see you back again although it's sad to hear that things haven't been quite right in the Croydon Boy's household. Hope that things pick up swiftly and that 2010 brings you improved health and happiness. Best of regards to Pat also from across the Irish Sea.

Hoping the new year finds both you and the Mrs. feeling much better! Plenty of snow will give you an excuse for lots of naps ;)

What a lovely bunch of bloggers you all are. Really kind and most generous thoughts and wishes from you and we, Pat and I, do so appreciate your goodwill messages.

We are both happy with the way things are going, medically speaking that is. Weatherwise I am not so sure! Still, Spring is not too far away and we are thankful for that.

Happy New Year!
