Cheeky Gardener,Bumbles and Ginger Ice Cream

It is such a glorious day today I decided to wander around Mellerstain.

Gordon Low, the gardener, was making out he was working. Ha!

The Bumble Bees were bumbling happily.

A few visitors were enjoying a visit.

And I went in search of my favourite ice cream: Doddington Double Ginger. Believe yew mee, thart ther is a dee-lish-ushhh flavour.

BTW: The background music is part of Rachmaninoff: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

Philip "Director/Cameraman/Sound Engineer" Harfleet strikes again although you had me worried there when you were walking down those steps in the gardens. Yikes, be careful!

Would you mind mentioning the music that you add as background? I've been racking my brains! Lovely piece and I know that I should know it's name....

I just noticed that you list The Third Man as a fave. I proposed to my girlfriend in one of the cabins on the Ferris Wheel there in Vienna. No sign of a third man I'm glad to say - ha ha!

Double ginger. I love ginger ice cream and all things ginger. Haven't watched the video yet, but will once my work day is done. Lunch time at my location in the Pacific NW.

Hi Cliff. That's a wonderful comment about your proposal to your girlfriend whilst on that superb big wheel in Vienna. I'd love to go there one day. Yes, the Third Man is a classic film. Another, in similar vein, is The Man Between, with James Mason. Not up to the classic standard but I do so love that 'cold war' theme.
I've added the music details to the short blog now.

MM: I'm glad you like that ginger ice cream. It's quite unusual in the mainstream suppliers but the brand I found (Doddingtons of Northumberland) is just great.

Ginger ice cream? This I have to try. I had cinamon once and it was nice but nowhere near strong enough for my rude and insensitive palate. Thanks for mentioning the music in the video - I've been trying to identify that piece for yonks! Mellerstain looks lovely in the sunshine doesn't it?

Yes Argent, ginger flavour is so right in ice cream. Today in the Scottish Borders has been just right for me. Sunny, cool, and dry!
I have some interior shots which I may put up soon. Not supposed to take photos inside, so don't tell on me, will you.

I don't think I've ever heard of ginger ice cream. If I see it I'll try it & think of you. That Gordon is funny! I enjoyed his hamming for the camera.

And it appears as if the estate of the estate is in fine fiddle and good feather sir! Well done for keeping us apprised. Did you perhaps get your ginger ice cream?

The music is very familiar. Is that Laura's theme? I can't quite place it.

What a beautiful day you're having there! Bumble bees are wonderful, science defying creatures. Always a treat to see.

I haven't had ginger ice cream either, but it sounds wonderful. I'm a big fan of green tea ice cream, which sounds as if it wouldn't be good, but is actually a really lovely flavor.

The gardener there is a cheerful soul! It must be a nice place to work.

Bees are a nightmare for me. I got stung by them a few times in the past and the pain was agonizing.

Your videos get better and better.

You just always put a smile on my face. I have buddleia (it's also known as butterfly bush, for obvious reasons - they love it) in my garden, but it blooms blue.

The ginger ice cream sounds wonderful, but plain old chocolate will probably always be my favorite.

Mark: Yep, I thought it would be in the tea rooms, with luck, and it was!
Bug: I'd never heard of it either prior to coming here. But ginger goes great in ice cream.
Alane: Rachmaninoff: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini is the background music.
Duta: Some people do have more severe reactions to bee/wasp stings, some have died from them. I don't think any of us relish stings from whatever insect.
Lynn: Yes, I've got two buddleia in part of my garden, also blue/lilac colour. Never knew there was a yellow variety. Hope Gordon Low named it correctly! I'll sack him otherwise.

Ginger ice cream? How interesting! When I was living in London I used to love to get espresso ice cream. I can get coffee ice cream here but it's not the same-- no where near the same intensity.

I loved walking through the garden with you. Did you get the ginger ice cream? I've never heard of that before and I've never seen a yellow buddleia bush before either. We learn something new every day, don't we.
